From campaign to global movement
The ZDHC Foundation emerged from a pivotal moment in 2011, when Greenpeace's "Detox My Fashion" campaign revealed the environmental impact of hazardous chemicals in textile manufacturing. What began as a response by six global apparel brands has evolved into an international authority on sustainable chemical management.

Shared vision
A world where better chemistry safeguards life, land, air and water
What began in 2015 as a bold initiative became the ZDHC Foundation, an independent, global multi-stakeholder initiative based in Amsterdam. Today, we bring together brands, manufacturers, chemical innovators and environmental leaders to drive one powerful mission: using sustainable chemistry to protect the planet and all who depend on it - us!

ZDHC is the catalyst for systemic change across industries
We provide a proven blueprint for sustainable chemical management - scalable, science-based and ready to be applied across any industry.
Through our Roadmap to Zero Programme, ZDHC has transformed chemical practices in the textile, apparel, leather and footwear sectors.
Now, we’re opening the door for other industries to co-develop the ZDHC MRSL, adopt the same tools and principles to reduce risk, boost circularity, and protect nature across global value chains.
